Ann Armstrong started Austin's Atlas in 2013 after receiving a Placemaking Grant from the Downtown Austin Alliance. The grant helped fund the completion of an illustrated pedestrian guide that celebrated obscure points of interest in downtown Austin. From there the project has grown to encompass other forms of documenting/acknowledging place that run the gamut from walks, workshops, to public art.
Ann is an architect that loves to build things with her hands. She also loves maps, walking, and welding.
